Privacy Policy
Effective 6 July 2026
We built this site the way we build everything: with respect. Respect for your work, your dream — and your data. This policy explains, in plain language, what information we collect on rodneymanyepa.com, why we collect it, and the rights you hold over it.
1. Who we are
This website is operated by Kapture, based at The Kapture Studio, Harare, Zimbabwe. Kapture is the creative ecosystem founded by Rodney Manyepa, and this site covers the Kapture business units (Studio, Digital, Academy, TV, Records, Network), the Kapture Store, Kapture Events and Awards, and Kurongeka OS, our operating platform. For everything in this policy, Kapture is the data controller. You can reach us at any time at hello@thekapture.com or on +263 77 000 0000.
2. The information we collect
We collect only what you give us and the minimum needed to run the site. Specifically:
- Form submissions. When you use a form on this site — the contact form, event ticket requests, award nominations, Academy and Network enquiries, or Kurongeka OS early-access requests — we collect the details you type in: typically your name, email address, the subject or service you're interested in, and your message.
- Newsletter sign-ups. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address.
- Consent-gated analytics. If — and only if — you choose "Accept all" on our consent banner, we record anonymous page-view counts. This data is stored on your own device (see section 4) and contains no name, no email, no account identifier and no advertising ID.
- Order and booking details. If you buy from the Kapture Store, book studio time, enrol in an Academy course or request event tickets, we collect the details needed to fulfil that order: what you ordered, your contact details, and delivery information where relevant.
We do not collect special-category data, we do not buy data about you from third parties, and we do not track you across other websites.
3. Why we collect it, and our legal bases
We process your information for the following purposes, on the following legal bases:
- To respond to you — answering enquiries, sending quotes and proposals, processing ticket requests and nominations. Legal basis: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in running our business.
- To deliver what you bought — fulfilling Store orders, course enrolments, bookings and event tickets. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
- To send you the newsletter — only if you subscribed. Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe instructions in any email or by writing to us.
- To improve the site — anonymous, on-device page-view analytics. Legal basis: your consent, given through the banner. If you choose "Essential only", no analytics run at all.
- To meet legal obligations — keeping transaction records required by Zimbabwean tax and commercial law. Legal basis: legal obligation.
4. How our analytics actually work
Most websites send your behaviour to third-party tracking companies. We don't. Our analytics are on-device: when you consent, a small script on this site counts page views and stores those counts in your own browser's localStorage under the key kx_analytics. That record contains a page path, a view count and a last-visit timestamp — nothing else. It is not transmitted to advertising networks and no third-party tracking pixels, ad trackers or fingerprinting scripts run on this site. The full technical detail, including every storage key we use, is in our Cookie Policy.
5. How form submissions are stored
When you submit a form, your submission is recorded in the inbox and contacts system of Kurongeka OS — our own operating platform — where the Kapture team reads and responds to it. Your name and email address may be added to our contacts list so we can follow up on your enquiry. We do not add you to marketing lists from a contact form; the newsletter is opt-in only.
6. Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent it, trade it or share it with advertisers. We share information only in these limited cases:
- Service providers. Limited, purpose-bound sharing with providers we need to operate — for example payment processors (see section 7) and delivery partners for physical Store orders. They receive only what is necessary to do their job.
- Google Fonts. This site loads its typefaces (Wix Madefor Display and Wix Madefor Text) from Google's font servers at fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. When your browser requests those files, Google receives your IP address as part of the standard web request. We do not send Google anything else, and no Google analytics or advertising products run on this site.
- Legal requirements. Where disclosure is required by law, court order or a competent authority in Zimbabwe or another applicable jurisdiction.
7. Payments
We accept payment by Ecocash, Innbucks, Visa, Mastercard, PayPal and cash. When you pay electronically, your payment details are handled by the relevant payment provider under its own terms and privacy policy — we never see or store your full card number, mobile-money PIN or PayPal credentials. We keep records of what was paid, when and for what, as required for accounting and for our Refund Policy.
8. How long we keep your information
- Enquiries and form submissions: kept for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and for up to 24 months afterwards, then deleted unless a project or order followed from it.
- Order, booking and transaction records: kept for the period required by Zimbabwean tax and commercial law, typically six years.
- Newsletter data: kept until you unsubscribe, then removed from active mailing within 30 days.
- On-device analytics and consent records: these live in your own browser and persist until you clear them — instructions are in the Cookie Policy.
9. Your rights
You are in charge of your information. Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
- Access — ask us what personal information we hold about you and receive a copy.
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Erasure — ask us to delete your information where we no longer need it.
- Objection and restriction — object to processing based on legitimate interests, or ask us to restrict it while we review a concern.
- Withdrawal of consent — withdraw consent for the newsletter or analytics at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
- Complaint — lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your jurisdiction. In Zimbabwe, that is the authority designated under the Cyber and Data Protection Act [Chapter 12:07].
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@thekapture.com with the subject line "Privacy request". We respond within one business day to acknowledge, and within 30 days to resolve.
10. Children
This site is intended for people aged 18 and over, and for younger students of the Kapture Academy only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
11. International visitors and transfers
Kapture operates from Zimbabwe, and your information is processed here under the Cyber and Data Protection Act [Chapter 12:07]. If you visit from the European Union, the United Kingdom or elsewhere, we honour GDPR-style rights for you as described in section 9 — access, rectification, erasure, objection and consent withdrawal apply to every visitor, wherever you are. Where information crosses borders (for example, a diaspora customer paying via PayPal), we rely on the safeguards of the relevant provider and share only what the transaction requires.
12. Security
We apply attention to detail to security the same way we apply it to design: access to Kurongeka OS is restricted to authorised team members, form data is kept to the minimum necessary, and we review what we store and why. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access, and we will inform you and the relevant authority of any breach as required by law.
13. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects how we use your personal information, we will make that clear on this site before the change takes effect. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
