Cookie Policy
Effective 6 July 2026
Short version: this site sets no advertising cookies, runs no third-party trackers, and keeps its analytics on your own device. This policy lists exactly what we store in your browser, key by key, and how to control it.
1. What this policy covers
This policy explains the browser storage used by rodneymanyepa.com, operated by Kapture, The Kapture Studio, Harare, Zimbabwe. It covers cookies and cookie-like technologies — in our case, primarily localStorage — plus the one third-party connection this site makes (Google Fonts). It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
2. Cookies vs. localStorage — what we actually use
A cookie is a small text file a website places in your browser, usually sent back to a server with every request. localStorage is a related browser technology: data stored on your device that stays on your device and is not automatically transmitted anywhere.
This site does not set cookies of its own. Everything we store lives in localStorage, under keys prefixed kx_. That distinction matters: localStorage data never leaves your browser as part of ordinary page requests. It is readable only by this website, on this device, in this browser.
3. The storage keys we use
Here is the complete list of what public pages of this site write to your browser, what each key does, and when it is created:
| Key | Purpose | When it is set | Category |
|---|---|---|---|
kx_consent |
Remembers your choice on the consent banner — either accepted (all storage) or essential (essential only) — so we do not ask you again on every page. |
When you click "Accept all" or "Essential only" on the banner. | Essential |
kx_analytics |
Anonymous on-device page-view counts: for each page path, a view count and a last-visit timestamp. No name, email, IP address or identifier of any kind. Never transmitted to a third party. | Only if you chose "Accept all". Never set if you chose "Essential only". | Analytics (consent-gated) |
kx_inbox |
Records form submissions (contact, newsletter, ticket, nomination, enquiry, early access) for the Kurongeka OS inbox, where our team reads and answers them. | When you submit a form on this site. | Essential (functional) |
kx_contacts |
Stores the name and email from a form submission in the Kurongeka OS contacts list so we can follow up on your enquiry. | When you submit a form that includes an email address. | Essential (functional) |
kx_session |
Keeps an authorised team member signed in to the Kurongeka OS dashboard at /admin/. Not set for ordinary visitors. | Only when a team member logs in to the dashboard. | Essential (team only) |
The Kurongeka OS dashboard itself uses additional kx_-prefixed keys (for example for products, orders and bookings) — these apply only to team members using the dashboard and are never created by simply browsing the public site.
4. How the consent banner behaves
The first time you visit, a banner appears at the bottom of the page with two choices:
- "Accept all" — sets
kx_consenttoaccepted. On-device analytics begin counting page views from that moment, stored inkx_analytics. - "Essential only" — sets
kx_consenttoessential. No analytics run. The site works fully; only the anonymous page-view counting is switched off.
Until you choose, no analytics run. There is no pre-ticked consent, no "implied consent by scrolling", and no dark pattern nudging you toward acceptance — both buttons are equally available. Your choice is remembered on that device and browser until you clear it (see section 6), at which point the banner will appear again.
5. Third-party requests: Google Fonts
This site loads its two typefaces — Wix Madefor Display and Wix Madefor Text — from Google Fonts, served from fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. When your browser fetches those font files, it makes a standard web request to Google's servers, which necessarily includes your IP address and standard request headers. Google Fonts requests do not set cookies. This is the only third-party connection the public site makes: there is no Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no advertising tags and no social-media tracking widgets anywhere on this site.
6. How to manage or clear stored data
Because everything lives in your own browser, you hold the delete key. To clear this site's storage:
- Chrome / Edge: Settings → Privacy and security → Site settings → View permissions and data stored across sites → search for this site → Delete data.
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Manage Data → search for this site → Remove.
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data → search for this site → Remove.
- Any browser: clearing "cookies and site data" for this site removes all
kx_keys at once.
Clearing storage removes your consent choice (the banner will show again), your on-device analytics history, and any locally recorded submissions. To change your analytics choice, clear this site's data and pick differently when the banner reappears. Browsing in private/incognito mode discards all of this automatically when you close the window.
7. What we will never do
For the avoidance of doubt, on this site we do not use: third-party advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, audience-matching or retargeting pixels, session-recording scripts, browser fingerprinting, or sale of browsing data. If that ever changes, this policy will change first — visibly, and before anything new runs.
8. Governing law
This policy is governed by the laws of Zimbabwe, including the Cyber and Data Protection Act [Chapter 12:07]. As with our Privacy Policy, we honour GDPR-style consent and transparency standards for every visitor, wherever you browse from — the consent banner, the key-by-key disclosure above and your right to clear everything apply to all visitors equally.
9. Changes to this policy
If we add, remove or repurpose a storage key or introduce any new third-party connection, we will update the table above and the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes to consent-gated storage will trigger the banner again so you can make a fresh choice.
